Our first graders have had a blast learning about life cycles right in their classrooms with these sweet chicks. Watching them hatch and grow has brought science to life in the most adorable way!

Two Springer students won RISD Council of Excellence awards and advanced to state with their PTA Reflections entries. First grader Mariana also received an honorable mention at the state competition for her artwork entry, I Belong to Two Countries. She wanted her art to show her two countries, Venezuela and the United States. Fourth grader Ellie titled her artwork I Belong to Books. Ellie said books make her feel like she belongs because she can relate to the characters in a story. We are proud of these students for their amazing talent and accomplishments. 

Springer celebrated Read Across America Week with fun dress-up days including hat day and college day. Students, staff, and families had the opportunity to shop at the book fair which was held in the library all week. 

Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association, NEA’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading which focuses on motivating children and teens to read.

UIL winners were recently celebrated at Springer with ribbons and snacks. Ribbons were given to first through fourth place winners in Chess, Music Memory, and Number Sense, and Ready Writing. Two students placed in the district competition and will be recognized at the next school board meeting. James S. placed third in district Music Memory and Novalynn R. placed second in district Ready Writing. 

Springer Elementary recently hosted a Multicultural Night that brought families together to celebrate the rich cultural heritage represented in our school community. Families from Chile, China, India, Mexico, South Africa, Vietnam, South Africa, and the American South shared authentic food, traditional clothing, and games that showcased the traditions of their cultures. The evening featured musical performances by Ms. Schuele's 4th and 5th grade students, along with a Folklorico dance presentation by performers from Dobbs Elementary. Visitors also admired beautiful clay projects on display from Ms. Saba's art classes, while Mrs. Cutting's spring book fair offered shopping opportunities for families. The Rockwall County Library was on hand to share information about its extensive resources available to our families.

This memorable celebration would not have been possible without the dedicated leadership of the Multicultural Committee, led by Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Hill, and the tremendous support of our teachers and families who generously contributed their time and talents to make the evening a success.

Battle of the Books Success

Springer Elementary's Battle of the Books team recently advanced to the second round of district competition. These 4th and 5th graders read books from this year's list and met weekly to practice competition questions with their librarian, Mrs. Cutting. Their dedication and hard work paid off, and we're thrilled with how they represented Springer with enthusiasm and pride. Congratulations to our fantastic readers!

The halls at Springer were filled with applause as the Stallions came together to celebrate our Special Olympics athletes at a send-off parade. These athletes' courage, determination, and heart inspire us all!

The Springer Library recently celebrated reading at the annual Bluebonnet Breakfast. The event is held in honor of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who read five or more books from the Texas Bluebonnet Award list. In addition to the delicious donuts, participants received a certificate and a book of their choice. This year's winning book, chosen by students across the state, is The Girl Who Figured it Out by Minda Dentler. 

The Stallion Sidekicks are a fantastic new group at Springer this year! Made up of dedicated 4th and 5th graders, the Sidekicks play an important role in supporting our school community. They assist with school functions, help manage hallway traffic, and lend a hand with the arrival carline each morning to ensure a smooth and safe start to the day. Beyond these duties, the Sidekicks also contribute in other areas like the library, demonstrating leadership and school spirit. We’re proud of these young helpers who make Springer an even better place!
